Quarterback: C

An interception on the team’s first offensive play helped put WSU in a big hole.

Running backs: B-

Some nice runs were a bright spot, but the 8- to 15-yard plays of last week weren’t there often.

Wide receivers: C-

Getting open is only half the battle – drops continue to bedevil at all the wrong times.

Offensive line: B-

Provided some room to run and gave Brink a fair amount of time to throw.

Defensive line: D+

Put far too little pressure on the Walter, and the Sun Devils came away with 141 on the ground, too.

Linebackers: C-

The playmakers on defense didn’t force a single turnover – like the rest of the Cougars – all game.

Secondary: D-

Had trouble keeping up with the Sun Devils’ stable of pass-catchers and looked overmatched.

Special teams: C

Bumpus gets his second punt return for a score and his fifth fumble in three weeks. You decide.

Coaching: C-

WSU thought it had a scheme to slow Walter down and put heat on Arizona State. It didn’t.

Overall: C-
