Coloring contest for top turkey

Family notes Mary Beth Donelan

KIDS! BE SURE to look in Thursday’s IN Life for our Thanksgiving Turkey Coloring Contest open for children up to age 10.

While dinner’s in the oven, decorate your own turkey and send it in. Prizes will be awarded in three age categories: 4 and under, 5 to 7, and 8 to 10. Prizes will be awarded in each category.

Teen road rules

“Mom, can I borrow the car?” is a common question in many homes. Before handing over the keys, here are things every parent should know according to Catherine Harris and her son, Joe, co-authors of “The Teenager’s Roadside Guide to Life.”

Choose the road yourself. Don’t let friends and well-meaning adults choose for you.

Learn to merge. Cooperation and sharing go a long way.

Watch out for children. They look up to you.

Slow down for speed bumps. They are there for a reason.

Ignore shortcuts. It takes time and effort to accomplish great things.

Make U-turns when necessary. Admitting a mistake and correcting it is much better than continuing further off course.
