Amal Elaimy
Spokane
Funeral for Amal Elaimy, owner of Niko’s Restaurant in Spokane Valley for 21 years, will be today at Spokane Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church, 1601 S. Sullivan Road. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Graveside service will be at Pines Cemetery.
Mrs. Elaimy, who died Wednesday, was born in Baghdad, Iraq, and had lived in Spokane for 28 years. She was 65.
She was educated in Iraq and in India.
Survivors include her husband, Foaud; a daughter, Reema Shaver of Liberty Lake; a son, Laith of Spokane; her siblings, Salem Elias, Salma Tooma, Ghanim Elias, Adeeba Evans and Nahla Farraj; and four grandchildren.
Memorial contributions may be made to Spokane Valley Seventh-day Adventist Church.
Ida McKinley
Cheney
Memorial service for Ida Jane McKinley, 90, will be today at 11 a.m. at Cheney Community Church. Cheney Funeral Chapel is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. McKinley, who died Wednesday, was born on a farm in Tyler, Wash. and was a longtime Cheney resident.
In 1932 she graduated from Cheney High School.
In 1933 she married Fred McKinley. She was a farmhand and homemaker on their farm.
She enjoyed playing bridge and gardening, and bowled her last game only two weeks before she died. She was a member of Amber Grange and the Order of the Eastern Star, Martha Chapter.
Her husband died in 1998.
Survivors include a son, Ronald, and a daughter, Lois Merrill, both of Cheney; five grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Marian Davis
Spokane
Memorial service for Marian J. Davis, 58, will be Tuesday at 3:30 p.m. at Spokane Valley Church of the Nazarene. Ball and Dodd Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
A lifetime resident of Spokane, Ms. Davis died Wednesday.
She graduated from West Valley High School and attended Kinman Business College.
Ms. Davis worked in various secretarial roles, most recently at Pathology Associates Medical Laboratories. Previously, she had worked at Huntwood Cabinets and Xerox.
Survivors include a daughter, Crystal Davis of Spokane; a son, Chad Davis of Las Vegas; her parents, Al and Lucille Allen of Spokane Valley; a sister, Faye Braun of Issaquah, Wash.; and two brothers, Mel and Ron Allen, both of Spokane.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Evelyn (Schandoney) Johnson
Spokane
Memorial service for Evelyn M. (Schandoney) Johnson, 84, will be today at 10 a.m. at North Hill Christian Church. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Mrs. Johnson, who died Thursday, had lived in Spokane for 60 years.
After graduating from Sprague High School and Eastern Washington State College, she worked as an elementary school teacher in the Warden School District, and also was a homemaker.
She married George Johnson in 1945.
Mrs. Johnson was a member of North Hill Christian Church, the Star Shooters Square Dance Group, Silver Mermaids Synchronized Swimming and was an avid cook and gardener.
Survivors include her husband; and a daughter, Bonnie Alm of Bellingham.
Frances (Mings) Miller
Spokane
Funeral for Frances Naomi (Mings) Miller, 72, will be today at 10 a.m. at Thornhill Valley Funeral Home.
Mrs. Miller, who died Wednesday, was born on a farm in Southern Illinois and was a longtime Spokane resident.
She attended Southern Illinois University and then Central Missouri State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in elementary education.
She was a teacher and a substitute teacher for elementary and junior high schools in Spokane and also was a mentor to troubled children.
Mrs. Miller was a devoted member of Dishman Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband of 52 years, Mark; two daughters, Debra of Vancouver and Nancy of Hillsboro, Ore.; and two sons, Steven of Rockford and Glenn of Pullman.
James Tamura
Spokane
Memorial service for James Juichi Tamura, 82, will be today at Heritage Funeral Home.
Mr. Tamura, who died Tuesday, was born in Kent, Wash. He had lived in Spokane for 57 years.
He served in the Army during World War II on the island of Tinian, Mariana Islands, and worked as an auto mechanic specialist.
He was a left-handed pitcher in the Nisei League in Kent and the Seattle area, and was an avid sports fan.
Mr. Tamura enjoyed mushroom hunting and traveling to Alaska, Hawaii, Germany and Switzerland.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Janet; two sons, Jim Jr. of Okinawa and Rod of Spokane; a daughter, Patti Uchimura of Spokane; and three grandchildren.
Richard Bowlin
Coeur d’Alene
No service was held for Richard Sidney Bowlin, 67. Burial was Wednesday at Forest Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene.
Mr. Bowlin, who was born in Mojave, Calif., died Nov. 8.
He was a Christian and enjoyed ministering to others and sharing his faith.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Marsha; three sons, Mark Launder of Coeur d’Alene, Mark Bowlin of Hayden Lake, Idaho, and Bob Johnson of Portland; and five grandchildren.
