Ditch your chores in favor of ‘Amazing’ TV

The much-anticipated sixth installment of Jerry Bruckheimer’s Emmy-winning reality show, “The Amazing Race,” premiered on CBS last week. WOW, I love it when my Tuesdays are action packed (doing laundry just doesn’t cut it)!

Here’s the gist: 11 teams will travel roughly 40,000 miles and hit 24 cities on four continents. The first adventure brought the teams to breathtaking Iceland.

Unfortunately, one team has to be eliminated, and high school buddies Avi and Joe were the first team to be sent home for no reason other than they took too long in the last challenge and did not get to the final pit stop in time.

Keep watching as the race takes the teams on a worldly excursion to beautiful landscapes in Africa and Asia, and the challenges continue to mystify.

Now, if Richard Branson could afford to buy Jerry Bruckheimer’s talent and CBS’s winning formula, perhaps his show would gain better ratings. It seems that the Virgin megamogul’s reality show, “The Rebel Billionaire” (Tuesdays, Fox), has slipped considerably in the ratings and did not measure up to Donald Trump’s 15.8 million viewers of “The Apprentice” last week.

I wonder if Branson’s show will be canceled before he doles out the big prize, and if so, will that money be up for grabs? I’d be willing to take it off his hands.

In other news, a few of the usual suspects are coming back for another season. NBC has picked up and is currently casting a second installment of “The Biggest Loser,” which has helped the network gains viewers on Tuesday nights. They are currently accepting applications for future “losers” at nbc.com.

We can also expect to see more of “Nanny 911” (Wednesdays, Fox) – it’s been picked up for an additional eight episodes.
