Victim’s name misspelled

Blu A. Madera, 16, died of a gunshot wound Sept. 29 at his home in Wellpinit, Wash. Due to incorrect information provided by the Stevens County Sheriff’s Office, Madera’s first name was misspelled in a report Sunday.

Phone number in error

In Sunday’s IN Life story on fall leaf tours, the phone number for Lions Excursion Train in Ione was listed incorrectly due to a reporting error. The number is (509) 442-5466.

Jail story wrong

Due to a reporter’s error, a story in Monday’s newspaper on a homicide at the Spokane County Jail said the victim had a brother who is an inmate at the jail. The jail chaplain did notify a relative of the victim who is in jail, but the relative is not a brother.

Headline incorrect

Staff for the city of Spokane Valley have so far refused to release a private company’s bid for operating libraries. Due to an editing error, a headline referring readers to Saturday’s story incorrectly stated that the city council, not staff, had made the decision to review the document and possibly redact some information before releasing it.
