Sounds like Elton’s the one who does the lip-sinking

SIR ELTON JOHN IS at it again. Fresh from calling photographers in Taiwan a bunch of “rude, vile pigs,” he’s now turned his verbal attacks to Madonna.

Taking the stage at Britain’s Q Awards music awards show Monday, John accused the Material Girl of lip-synching and said he was astonished she had been nominated for best live act.

“Since when has lip-synching been live?” John said. “Anyone who lip-synchs in public onstage when you pay 75 pounds ($134) to see them should be shot.

“That’s me off her … Christmas card list,” he added. “But do I give a toss? No.”

“Madonna does not lip-synch nor does she spend her time trashing other artists,” her spokeswoman replied, adding: “Elton John remains on her Christmas card list whether he is nice … or naughty.”

For what it’s worth, Madonna lost the Q award to the British band Muse.

Watch those property values shoot up

Britney Spears, whose net worth is estimated at $32 million, reportedly bought a $7 million Malibu pad for her and new hubby Kevin Federline – a 1.5-acre spread with a pool, tennis court, gym, and eight bedrooms and eight baths.

Meanwhile, Spears’ bodyguards are said to be teaching Federline how to fire a handgun.

A whole long way from 8 Mile

Eminem, who vowed never to ditch his Detroit roots for Hollywood, has shelled out $5.3 million for new digs in the Hollywood Hills.

That’s apparently part of a plan to concentrate on a film career following his success with the autobiographically based “8 Mile,” named after a hardscrabble Detroit road.

“He will never lose touch with Detroit, but Eminem felt it was time to move to Hollywood,” a source close to the rapper said. “He’s always staying there for work and has loads of friends in the area.”

Dollywood keeps busting out all over

Dolly Parton‘s Dollywood theme park, Tennessee’s biggest tourist attraction, is getting even bigger.

The amusement park in the Great Smoky Mountains, will add 10 rides next year in a 3 1/2 -acre expansion of the park’s Country Fair area that will increase ride capacity by more than 2,000 passengers an hour.

And speaking of trailer trashed …

It’s not quite a Who-style hotel-room trashing from the glory days of rock and roll, but Canadian singer Avril Lavigne has been billed $600 for damage to a trailer she used during a New York club show last month to promote Maxim magazine’s music issue, including a broken cabinet, picture frame and wardrobe.

Said a Lavigne representative: “There were a lot of people going in and out of those trailers that day.”

Actually, milk cartons would be a bad sign

Fantasia Barrino, winner of the third season of Fox’s “American Idol,” wants people to remember her name.

“I’m not going to let people forget me,” says Barrino, who now goes by her first name only. “I’m going to be on cereal boxes, milk cartons and ice-cream trucks.”
