Last year: Ryan Newman’s gas gamble paid off as he won the Banquet 400. Newman drove the final 117 laps on one tank of fuel and held off a challenge from Bill Elliott to record his eighth victory of 2003.

Last race: Points leader Martin Truex Jr. took the lead with 12 laps to go and drove to an easy victory in the Stacker 200 at Dover International Speedway. It was Truex’s fifth win of the year, tying him with rookie Kyle Busch and Greg Biffle for the most on the circuit.

Last year: David Green led just one lap down the stretch, but it was good enough to win the Mr. Goodcents 300. The race finished under caution when Bobby Hamilton Jr. crashed on the last lap.

Fast facts: Truex’s 152-point lead in the standings is the largest for any driver since he trailed Kevin Harvick by 153 following the March 27 race at Bristol. … Busch is three top-ten finishes shy of the rookie season record of 21 set by Biffle in 2001. … Chevrolets have won 17 of the 27 races this season.
