Clay Christiansen, one of the organists for the Mormon Tabernacle Choir in Salt Lake City, will perform at the Episcopal Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist, 127 E. 12th Ave., Sunday at 2 p.m.

Sunday’s recital will feature pieces by such composers as Bach, Grieg and St. Saens along with some originals. Admission is free; a free-will offering will be taken.

Pilgrim Harvest Festival

Heritage Congregational Church, 1801 E. 29th Ave., is presenting a re-creation of the pilgrims giving thanks for their harvest in a program today from 4 to 6 p.m.

The event includes door prizes, costumes and authentic food. Admission is $12 for ages 16 and older, $9 for children ages 5-15 and free for children under 5.

Anniversary celebration

Central Lutheran Church, 512 S. Bernard St., is celebrating 75 years of worship on Sunday.

The festivities include a presentation by Don Neraas, “The History of Spokane as Reflected in Central Lutheran,” at 9:15 a.m., followed by a celebratory worship at 10:30 a.m.

Being in the Moment lecture

The Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St., will present Bhante Seelawimala Sunday at 3 p.m.

Seelawimala, a Theravadan monk, will speak on “Being in the Moment in the Buddhist Tradition.”

Dream workshop

The Providence Center for Faith and Healing, 101 W. Eighth Ave., will present a three-week dream workshop Wednesday and Oct. 20 and 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Geri Proctor will speak about dreams of wisdom and spiritual formation, universal dream themes, and symbols on personal, cultural and universal levels.

Theology lecture

Nicholas Wolterstorff, a Christian philosopher and professor of theology at Yale University, will speak about “Educating for Shalom: What Are Our Goals?” Thursday at 7:30 p.m. in the Robinson Teaching Theater of Weyerhaeuser Hall at Whitworth College, 300 W. Hawthorne Road. Wolterstorff will tell about his vision of a faith-based higher education. Admission is free. For more information, call 777-3702.

Catholic Young Adults retreat

Spokane Catholic Young Adults is having its annual retreat from 7 p.m. Friday through 11:30 a.m. Oct. 17 at the Immaculate Heart Retreat Center, 6910 S. Ben Burr Road.

This year’s theme will be “We Are Called – I Am Listening.” Meals will be provided; participants are asked to bring their own soft drinks and snacks.

Women of Worth conference

Women of Worth’s seventh annual conference and luncheon will be next Saturday at 8:30 a.m. at the Pend Oreille Bible Camp, 7852 LeClerc S. Road, Newport, Wash.

The group is an interdenominational ministry sponsored by 13 churches in the Newport area. The conference will feature Betty Barnett of Renton, Wash., who will tell how to find joy in the midst of discouragement.

The cost of the conference is $17 and includes breakfast and lunch.

Spokane Christian Singles

Singles in their 20s, 30s and 40s are invited to attend Spokane Christian Singles Speed Dating tonight at 7 p.m. at the Main Valley Library, 12004 E. Main Ave. The cost is $10.

Single Christians in their 50s may attend a speed-dating session Friday at the Old Country Buffet, 9606 N. Newport Highway, at 5:30 p.m. The $20 admission price includes an all-you-can-eat buffet.
