Grading the Cougs

The Spokesman-Review

Quarterbacks: C+

Missing on 23 of 36 passes makes it tough to control the game.

Running backs: A-

Harrison could be an emerging star for the Cougars and ought to see most of the carries.

Wide receivers: B-

Hill started with a bang, but four drops by the group, including two on the last series, were costly.

Offensive line: A

Best game of the year by far — Swogger stayed clean all day and the run game was working.

Defensive line: C-

Five sacks are impressive. Allowing 209 rushing yards is not.

Linebackers: C+

Davis played a great game, but it’s tough to dole out too much credit when you allow 41 points.

Secondary: D

Cougs need to figure out what went wrong on pass defense if they’re to have success.

Special teams: B-

The special-teams TD was big, but the fourth- quarter fumbled kickoff could have been deadly.

Coaching: C-

Started off with a great game plan to attack the Oregon defense, but the Ducks figured out how to beat the scheme and Cougars couldn’t respond.
