Red Sox 10, Angels 7: At Boston, Manny Ramirez homered twice, Curt Schilling moved into a tie for the major league lead with 17 wins and the streaking Red Sox beat Anaheim. Boston won its season-high seventh straight and for the 13th time in 14 games to take a 2 1/2 -game lead over the Angels in the A.L. wild-card race. Anaheim had won 10 of 11. Schilling (17-6) held the Angels to three runs and nine hits in 7 2/3 innings to match Oakland’s Mark Mulder for the lead in wins.

Twins 8, Rangers 5 (11): At Minneapolis, Torii Hunter hit a three-run homer with two outs in the bottom of the 11th to lead Minnesota over Texas. Hunter drove in a career-high six runs and Justin Morneau also homered and had two RBIs for the Twins.

Athletics 7, White Sox 2: At Chicago, Rich Harden (9-5) pitched seven solid innings to help Oakland extend its winning streak to eight games with a win over the White Sox. Adam Melhuse went 3 for 4 with a home run for the A’s, who matched their longest winning streak of the season.

Royals 9, Tigers 8: At Kansas City, Mo., Aaron Guiel’s sacrifice fly drove in the winning run with one out in the bottom of the ninth, and the Royals rallied to a victory over Detroit.

Orioles 10, Devil Rays 6 (12): At St. Petersburg, Fla., Melvin Mora and Jay Gibbons homered in the 12th and Baltimore outlasted Tampa Bay. Aubrey Huff homered twice for the Devil Rays.
