Red Sox 2, Rangers 0: At Boston, Pedro Martinez pitched the Red Sox to their longest winning streak in nine years and pulled Boston within 2 1/2 games of the New York Yankees in the A.L. East with a win over Texas. Martinez allowed four hits in seven innings to help extend Boston’s win streak to 10 games.

Orioles 3, Yankees 1: At New York, Rodrigo Lopez outpitched Kevin Brown, Miguel Tejada got his major league-leading 122nd RBI and Baltimore defeated New York to win its fifth straight.

Angels 10, Indians 5: At Cleveland, Troy Glaus homered for the first time since May 11, and Garret Anderson and Bengie Molina also hit home runs to help the Angels beat Cleveland and snap Anaheim’s three-game losing streak.

Twins 2, Royals 0: At Minneapolis, Johan Santana pitched a no-hitter through six innings and finished with seven shutout innings to win his ninth straight start as Minnesota defeated Kansas City. Santana (16-6) gave up one hit and one walk, striking out 11 and throwing 106 pitches.

Athletics 7, Blue Jays 4: At Toronto, Bobby Kielty hit a go-ahead homer off Ted Lilly, Nick Swisher doubled and walked twice in his major league debut and Oakland beat Toronto.

Tigers 4, Devil Rays 2: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Jeremy Bonderman pitched seven solid innings to hand rookie Scott Kazmir his first major league loss, and Dmitri Young hit a two-run homer to help Detroit send Tampa Bay to it seventh straight loss.
