Vikings win girls soccer doubleheader
If you know a Coeur d’Alene girls soccer player, and they’re spending the day lounging around and not moving very much, there’s a good reason.
The Vikings won a pair of matches Saturday, downing Mountain View and McCall by identical 2-0 scores.
Kristie Aston scored a pair of first-half goals two minutes apart to beat Mountain View in a noon game, then came back in the 5:30 p.m. nightcap to set up the winning goal against McCall, feeding Jamie Myers midway through the second half. Five minutes later, Tayni Griffitts took a pass from Courtney Walker and scored the final goal of the day.
Valerie Nelson earned a pair of shutouts in goal for the Vikings.
In other games: Jessy Cawley scored in the 54th minute of play to lift the Lewiston JV past St. Maries 1-0.
Boys Soccer
Mountain View staked Coeur d’Alene to a 1-0 lead on a penalty shot a minute into the match, then roared back to take a 4-2 victory … Brett Payne scored twice as St. Maries stopped the Lewiston JV 3-0.

Amanda Corning had seven aces and six kills to lead Priest River past Cusick 25-10, 25-12, 25-21. Lisa Barber had seven aces as well, and Calli Turner added a trio of blocks.
