Church hosts street fair

Spokane First Church of the Nazarene, 9004 N. Country Homes Blvd., is hosting an old-fashioned community street fair.

Come rain or shine on Sunday from 2 to 6 p.m., the afternoon will include puppies from SpokAnimal CARE, a wiener-mobile with $1 hot dogs, cold drinks from McDonalds, an antique fire truck, and a visit from Pickles, the Washington State Patrol drug dog.

Participants are asked to bring donations of men’s and women’s clothing for Goodwill, the City Gate Mission and Ogden Hall. Soldiers’ gift packages that include such items as cologne, deodorant, soaps, toothpaste, toothbrushes, calculators, games and magazines will be taken for the USO-Family Division, and nonperishable food items will be accepted for the Second Harvest Food Bank.

There also will be information booths to learn more about the Spokane Police Department, Civil Air Patrol, Teen Aid, Spokane Humane Society, Vanessa Behan Clinic and Crosswalk.

Spokane Police volunteers will also be there to fingerprint children and sign up new recruits.

Sept. 11 memorial play

The Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., is presenting a play to memorialize the events of Sept. 11, 2001, on Friday and Saturday.

“The Guys,” by Anne Nelson, tells the story of a fire captain who must write the eulogies for eight of his firefighters who died that day.

Admission is $5 and performances begin on both evenings at 7:30 p.m.

Moving sale

Our Lady of the Rosary Academy, 2723 E. Gordon Ave., is hosting a moving sale Saturday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to benefit the school.

Items for sale include school desks and chairs, uniforms, office desks, file cabinets, costumes and records.

Christian Singles hosts lecture

The Christian Singles Fellowship will meet Sept. 18 at 7 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of North Addison Baptist Church, 6120 N. Addison St.

Pastor Bob Smith will present a talk titled, “I am God’s Child.”
