Logging truck hits pedestrian
COEUR d’ALENE — A Post Falls man was struck and seriously injured by a logging truck Wednesday, when he apparently dropped something and stopped to pick it up while pushing a bicycle across U.S. Highway 95, the Idaho State Police reported.
According to ISP, 54-year-old Gregory Doerr was in the southbound lanes of Highway 95 at Prairie Road about 3:45 p.m.
Doerr was in an area without a crosswalk and where signs are posted prohibiting pedestrians from crossing on that side of the intersection, ISP reported.
Doerr dropped something and stooped to retrieve it when Kelly Schall, 36, of Plains, Mont., turned an empty log truck into the intersection, striking Doerr. Schall was not cited.
Doerr was taken to Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene, where he was listed in serious condition Wednesday night, a nursing supervisor said.
