9/11 remembrance at Unity

Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St., is presenting a play tonight to memorialize the events of Sept. 11, 2001.

“The Guys” by Anne Nelson tells the story of a fire captain who must write the eulogies for eight of his firefighters who died that day.

The captain, played by Dennis Ashley, recruits a professional writer, played by Clare Austen, to help him tell the stories of his lost men.

The performance begins at 7:30 p.m. and lasts about an hour. Admission is $5.

Flight 93 commemoration

First Baptist Church, 915 S. Cedar St. in Colville, is inviting all Singles and Singles Again today from 5 to 7 p.m. to commemorate Flight 93, the hijacked airplane that crashed in the fields of Pennsylvania on Sept. 11, 2001.

The video “A Message from Flight 93” will be shown, discussing the passengers on the plane who lost their own lives by overtaking the terrorists to save the lives of others.

Moving sale

Our Lady of the Rosary Academy, 2723 E. Gordon Ave., is hosting a moving sale today from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. to benefit the school.

Some of the items for sale include school desks and chairs, uniforms, office desks, file cabinets, costumes and records. For more information call 483-6279.

Rally day breakfast

Manito United Methodist Church, 3220 S. Grand Blvd., is celebrating the launch of its fall schedule by hosting a Rally Day continental breakfast Sunday from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

The church’s Sunday school classes will begin at 9:15 a.m., and worship with praise singing and chancel choir will begin at 10:30 a.m.

Banquet and silent auction

Good News Jail and Prison Ministry is hosting its third annual Celebration Dessert Banquet and Silent Auction.

The party begins at 6 p.m. on Friday at the Sons of Norway Hall, 6710 N. Country Homes Blvd.

Tickets are $12. The proceeds will go toward the chaplaincy at Geiger Correctional Facility.
