‘Miracle’ revisits onstage lion attack
Only one night after Siegfried & Roy’s animals are depicted as a cuddly animated sitcom menagerie on NBC’s “Father of the Pride,” NBC brings us the harrowing real story of the attack that nearly put an end to Roy.
Maybe it’s synergy, but it’s pretty weird if you ask me.
Tonight at 9, Maria Shriver — who left NBC News to avoid conflicts as first lady of California — returns to NBC to host “Siegfried & Roy: The Miracle.” The show promises the inside story of the “tragic onstage accident,” also known as a tiger attack, that nearly took Roy Horn’s life.
Roy himself will tell what happened, and the hour will trace his recovery from his injuries and a subsequent stroke. Witnesses and Roy’s doctors will also speak.
But this will be very much Siegfried and Roy’s version of events — again, it’s not an NBC News project but rather produced by an NBC Television Studio exec and the duo’s longtime manager. So don’t expect an expose, and don’t be surprised to see clips from “Father of the Pride.”
