But shouldn’t some have gone on the waterfront?
THE ASHES OF LEGENDARY ACTOR Marlon Brando were spread in Tahiti and Death Valley, reports the Los Angeles Times. Brando died of lung failure at age 80 on July 1.
Some of his ashes were scattered in Death Valley, a place that the actor cherished, his son Miko Brando told the newspaper.
The ashes of Brando’s late friend Wally Cox, who died in 1973, were also poured onto the desert as part of the same ceremony.
In the months before his death, Brando had dropped 85 pounds from his once-large frame and needed a portable oxygen tank to aid his breathing.
Despite being known as a recluse, he ventured to Neverland Ranch more than a year before he died to visit Michael Jackson, whom he’d first met through Quincy Jones in the 1980s. Jackson is the godfather of Brando’s 9-year-old granddaughter Prudence.
“The last time my father left his house to go anywhere, to spend any kind of time, it was with Michael Jackson,” said Miko Brando, a longtime Jackson employee.
Dangerfield’s sort of out of it
Rodney Dangerfield has been in a coma while recovering from heart surgery but has begun to show some awareness, his wife says.
The 82-year-old comedian was stable and had been breathing on his own for 24 hours, Joan Dangerfield said in a statement Monday. Dangerfield had a heart valve replaced Aug. 25.
“My husband slipped into a light coma a couple of weeks ago while recovering from his heart surgery,” Joan Dangerfield said. “His overall condition, however, remains stable.”
Hey, Burnett – you’re sued!
A California man who claims he came up with the idea for the hit television reality show “The Apprentice” four years ago – even suggesting Donald Trump as its star – is suing the series’ creators and NBC.
Mark Bethea says he pitched the idea in 2001 to the business manager of “Survivor” and “The Apprentice” creator Mark Burnett, but was told that Burnett wasn’t interested.
Burnett insists he came up with the “Apprentice” concept in December 2002 while shooting “Survivor” in the Brazilian rain forest and started thinking: “urban jungle.”
Let’s see how much they can net
Soccer star David Beckham and his wife, Victoria (formerly Posh Spice of the Spice Girls), are taking legal action against a British tabloid newspaper that said their marriage was in trouble.
Their lawyers say an article in the News of the World on Sept. 12, headlined “Posh and Becks on Rocks,” was untrue and caused the couple “considerable distress.”
In April, Beckham’s former personal aide claimed they had a 10-day affair, which he dismissed as “ludicrous” and “absurd.”
The couple have two children, Brooklyn, 5, and Romeo, 2, and are expecting their third child in March.
Suppose it will be a breech boy?
Wilson Phillips singer Carnie Wilson, whose gastric bypass surgery five years ago was broadcast on the Internet, has announced that she’s pregnant.
“I can’t believe it. It’s such a miracle, such a beautiful miracle,” said Wilson, daughter of Beach Boy Brian Wilson, who lost 150 pounds following the surgery.
“It won’t be a problem eating for two – that’s the good part!” she added.
