Boise State survives scare, edges BYU

Associated Press

Jared Zabransky threw a 44-yard touchdown pass to T.J. Acree with 3:42 remaining and host No. 21 Boise State held on, extending the nation’s longest winning streak with a 28-27 victory over Brigham Young on Friday night.

Boise State won its 15th consecutive game when BYU missed a field-goal attempt in the final minute.

The Broncos charged to a 16-0 lead, but BYU rallied for a 27-22 advantage.

After Zabransky put the Broncos ahead, BYU drove deep into Broncos’ territory. Kicker Matt Payne, who hadn’t missed all season, had his 38-yard attempt drift wide left.

Boise State improved to 4-0 for the first time since 1994, the same year it won the Division I-AA national title.
