Yom Kippur program on TV

PAX-TV (cable channel 8 in Spokane and Coeur d’Alene) is airing “Yom Kippur: Prayers of Atonement,” a program presented by the United Jewish Communities and Temple of the Air and geared toward younger Jewish generations.

The program will air today at 11 a.m. and will feature Mary Hart of “Entertainment Tonight,” Larry King, film critic Leonard Maltin, and actors Theodore Bikel and Jason Alexander.

Frontier Days

CrossWind Church, 17302 N. Newport Highway, is hosting its annual Frontier Days today.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., this event will take visitors back to the 1840s with teepees, mountain-man shelters, period costumes and the crafts and skills of mountain men. There also will be a yard sale and concession stand. For more information, call 238-2270.

Drama troupe at Central Baptist

On Sunday the Covenant Players will perform at the 11 a.m. service of the Central Baptist Church, 19 W. Shannon Ave.

The Covenant Players are an international Christian drama group founded by playwright Charles M. Turner 40 years ago. Since then, they have formed more than 60 touring groups, performed more than 2 million times and had more than 3,000 plays written for them by Turner.

Admission is free; a free-will offering will be accepted.

Buddhism lecture

The Spokane Buddhist Temple, 927 S. Perry St., is holding an informal lecture on Jodo Shinshu Buddhism Sunday at 9:30 a.m.

Attendees can expect to learn about the history, concepts and traditions of this Japanese school of Buddhism and are invited to attend an Ohigan service at 10:30 a.m.

Widows fellowship

Widows of all ages are invited to attend the fall Widows Might program Sunday from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Spokane Valley Nazarene Church, 15515 E. 20th Ave.

Harp concerts

“ The harp duo Sojourn will perform Wednesday at Unity Church of Truth, 2900 S. Bernard St.

Betty Barber and Donna Madej will demonstrate how soothing music can be used to take people from this life to the next.
