Weiler fun run/walk May 14

The Spokesman-Review

An annual fun run that pays tribute to a longtime Valley family has turned into a successful fund-raiser.

Now in its fifth year, the Weiler Memorial Fun Run/Walk has raised $6,500 for Cancer Patient Care, an agency that provides support services for cancer patients and their families.

Otis Orchards Elementary School and members of the Weiler family collaborate on the run, which honors Steve Weiler and his sons, Brian and Dale, who died from cancer.

Several generations of the Weiler family attended the elementary school and both Steve and Brian had worked there as custodians. Dale Weiler worked for the Post Falls Police Department.

This year’s run is scheduled for May 14 at 9 a.m. and follows a 3.1-mile path that starts at Otis Orchards Elementary.

Registration costs $7 for adults and $5 for children and includes a T-shirt. Late registration runs April 16-22 and costs $9 for adults and $7 for children, including shirt.

Forms and information are available online at www.weilerfunrun.com.

Make checks payable to Otis Orchards PTSA and mail to Otis Orchards Elementary School, Attn: Fun un, 22000 E. Wellesley Ave., Otis Orchards, WA 99027. Entries also may be dropped off at the school.
