Animals, tsunami topic

The Spokesman-Review

The tsunami that hit Asia in December didn’t destroy just the homes of the people living there, it also destroyed the homes of thousands of dogs.

The Spokane County Regional Animal Protection Service is sponsoring a lecture on the efforts to save animals affected by the disaster. The talk will feature Dick Green, regional emergency response coordinator for the Spokane Regional Health District.

Green was the manager of emergency animal relief for the American Humane Society for two years. After the tsunami he represented the Humane Society and the World Society for the Protection of Animals in Sri Lanka.

The lecture will begin at 5:30 p.m. today in the county commissioners’ hearing room in the lower level of the Public Works Building at 1026 W. Broadway Ave.
