Wildcats prevail late

Morgan Hartanov had a goal and an assist in the final two minutes, leading Mt. Spokane (8-1, 6-1 GSL) to a 3-2 overtime victory over winless Clarkston (0-10, 0-7) in GSL soccer Monday at Mt. Spokane.

After Brady Wilson put the Bantams ahead on a penalty kick in the 77th minute, Hartanov tied the match in the 79th. In the 81st minute, Hartanov set up Keith Kirsch, who found the back right corner of the net.

In other GSL matches, Mead’s Aaron Malmoe scored in the 79th minute to give the Panthers (4-5, 4-3) a 1-0 upset over visiting East Valley (5-2, 5-2). … Jay Vela kept Central Valley (8-1, 7-0) atop the GSL, scoring on one of Jesse Dunbar‘s two assists in a 3-0 win at Rogers (4-6, 2-5). … Sam Palmer and Eric Hauck each scored for Ferris (8-1, 6-1), which stayed tied with Mt. Spokane for second with a 2-1 victory at Gonzaga Prep (4-4, 3-4). … Jaime Rebuelta and Mitchell Weller each had two goals and an assist for Cheney (7-3, 4-3) in a 7-0 win at North Central (1-8, 1-6). … Lewis and Clark’s Stefan Andersson scored from 18 yards out in the 65th minute to give LC (2-6, 2-5) a 3-2 win at Shadle Park (5-3, 4-3). LC’s Matt Harnetiaux and Shadle’s Andy Largent each scored twice. … Sean Pierce led University (5-3, 4-3) with a goal and an assist in the second half of a 3-1 win at West Valley (3-6, 1-6).

Baseball

Pullman’s Kale Stephenson struck out five in a three-hit shutout, as the Greyhounds defeated Colville 10-0 in Great Northern League play.

Golf

Ferris placed three players in the top 10 on its way to a six-stroke victory over Post Falls in the Jim Kraus Invitational at Avondale Golf Course in Hayden. Central Valley medalist Nick Grigsby shot a 1-over 73for a two-stroke victory.

On the girls’ side, Mead medalist Amy Eneroth notched a 4-under 68, leading the Panthers to a five-stroke win over University in the Stag Spring Kickoff at Deer Park Golf Course.
