Fair entry deadlines coming up

The Spokesman-Review

Some key deadlines for competitive exhibitors at the North Idaho Fair are quickly approaching.

Nonperishable exhibits should be brought to the Fairgrounds on Monday and Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m. These include nonperishable items from culinary arts (canning, jam, jelly and preserves, pickles, gift baskets, dried foods, beer, wine and liqueur), sewing, knitting and crocheting, handwoven and handspun, quilts, needlecrafting, general crafts, children’s crafts, industrial crafts, fine art, and photography. They are to be taken directly to the building listed in the Exhibitor’s Handbook.

Perishable exhibits come to the Fairgrounds Aug. 22, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Aug. 23 from 7 a.m. to noon. Exhibits considered perishable include fruits, nuts and herbs, honey, vegetables and field crops, flowers (Aug. 23 sections, theme flower arrangements and junior flower arrangements only), and perishable culinary arts (breads, all cakes, cookies, pies, candy, four-star baker, edible house contest and cookie jar contest).

Entries for the Mayor’s Chocolate Extravaganza Contest should be brought to the fair office by 11 a.m. on Aug. 24.

Flowers, Friday sections, come in on Aug. 26 from 7 to 10 p.m.

Entries for the Commissioner’s Apple Pie Contest need to be brought to the fair office by 10 a.m. Aug. 27.

Because entries brought in after published deadlines will not be accepted, exhibitors are strongly encouraged to first get an Exhibitor’s Handbook. In addition to all department entry schedules, the handbook contains all the rules and regulations plus “A Quick Guide For Exhibitors,” information about entry tags. The handbook is available at the fair office and is posted on the Fair’s Web site at www.northidahofair.com.
