White Sox put Podsednik on disabled list

Associated Press

CHICAGO — The Chicago White Sox placed major league steals leader Scott Podsednik on the 15-day disabled list Monday because of a strained muscle in his left leg. The move was retroactive to Saturday.

Podsednik, who has 54 stolen bases, has been bothered by the injury for the past three weeks and it has shown up in his play. He has been caught stealing nine times in his last 13 attempts. He has been caught stealing 18 times this season.

“It wasn’t real hard to make a decision. It’s been nagging on me for quite some time now and it got to the point where I can’t continue on,” Podsednik said. “I have probably been running 60 to 70 percent.”
