This one sounds like a real meltdown for Eminem

The Spokesman-Review

Eminem‘s soap opera of a life has taken another sudden turn. The Grammy-winning rapper is undergoing treatment for dependency on sleep medication, his publicist said Thursday, two days after he canceled his European tour citing exhaustion.

A brief statement said Eminem, whose real name is Marshall Mathers III, “is in the hospital under doctors’ care.”

He wrapped up his nationwide “Anger Management” tour last week, then on Tuesday canceled 10 European concerts that were to kick off Sept. 1 in Hamburg, Germany.

”(Y)ou have someone who is at a crossroads personally and professionally,” said Elliott Wilson, editor-in-chief of the hip-hop magazine XXL.

“Hopefully, he can figure out where he is mentally,” Wilson said. “Ultimately, he’s going to have to make some career choices. How many records does he plan on doing? Will this be the last tour?”

Eminem last month denied a report that he was planning to retire, but he did say he might be taking a breather after releasing four multiplatinum albums.

It’s time to get tough with Love

Troubled rocker-actress Courtney Love on Friday tearfully admitted using drugs in violation of her probation, and was ordered into a drug treatment program by a judge who said he wanted to put her in jail.

“I think that you need to hit rock bottom before you make a decision about what you’re going to do in the future,” Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Rand Rubin told the sobbing Love.

Her attorney said she had a relapse but will “deal with it,” adding: “She’s serious. She’s sincere. And she’s pretty tenacious about getting her life in order.”

Bad girl’s guide to marriage

Former Playboy playmate Jenny McCarthy and her husband, John Asher, have filed for divorce after nearly six years of marriage.

McCarthy, 32, married Asher, a 34-year-old film director, in September 1999. They have a 3-year-old son.

McCarthy, currently starring in the UPN sitcom “The Bad Girl’s Guide,” previously appeared on MTV’s “Singled Out” and “The Jenny McCarthy Show” and the short-lived 1997 NBC sitcom “Jenny.”

Here’s hoping he’ll last longer

“Desperate Housewives” star Marcia Cross accepted a proposal from her stockbroker boyfriend last weekend, her publicist says.

It will be the first marriage for both Cross, 43, and 47-year-old Tom Mahoney. No wedding date has been set.

In the hit ABC show, Cross plays uptight Bree Van De Kamp, whose doctor husband, Rex, died in the first-season finale.

Bennifer thinks pink; Britney’s got the blues

It sounds like Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner are expecting their first baby, due in November, to be a boy.

At the Los Angeles premiere of “The Brothers Grimm,” a friend rubbed “Alias” star Garner’s belly and asked, “Are you having a boy?,” to which she replied: “Guess again.”

Meanwhile, Britney Spears, who’s also expecting this fall, reportedly went on an after-hours shopping spree at the Beverly Hills’ baby boutique Petit Tresor, unloading $10,000 on all manner of boy stuff.
