North Idaho Fair – air gates open each day at 9 a.m. Exhibit buildings open today-Saturday, 11 a.m.-11 p.m., and Sunday, 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Carnival is open noon-11 p.m., and Sunday, noon-8 p.m. Motocross in the Grandstand is today with qualifying heats at 4:30 p.m. and races at 7 p.m. Kootenai County Fairgrounds, Coeur d’Alene. $6/adults, $2.50/ages 6-12, free/ages 5 and younger, $3/parking. Plant Tissue Culture for the Home and Classroom – The Palouse Discovery Science Center and Kitchen Culture Kits Inc. are presenting this workshop for teachers, students, gardeners, and anyone who loves plants. Activities will include disinfecting and culturing plant leaves, buds and orchid seeds, discussing troubleshooting and resources and more. Koi Show and Vendor Fair – The Inland Empire Water Garden & Koi Society is presenting this fair that will include koi and goldfish on display, a koi coloring contest, vendors and seminars. The proceeds will benefit community volunteer projects of the society, such as draining and cleaning the Nishinomiya Japanese Garden Pond at Manito Park.
