Chiefs begin training camp this morning

The Spokesman-Review

The Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League officially kick off training camp today at the Arena.

The Chiefs are expecting 75-80 players for the two-day camp, which concludes Sunday with the Red-White scrimmage at 1 p.m. The players will be split into four teams and play a total of eight intrasquad games, with cutdowns occurring after Saturday.

Games will be held today and Saturday at the following times: 10-11:30 a.m.; noon-1:30 p.m.; 3:30-5 p.m.; and 5:15-6:45 p.m.

All of the training camp scrimmages are free and open to the public.

The Chiefs announced Thursday that tickets for their lone home exhibition game are on sale at the Spokane Chiefs office and Eagles Ice-A-Rena.

The Chiefs will host the Tri-City Americans on Sept. 16 at the Ice-A-Rena. Tickets are $5 and the game is usually a sellout.

The NCC, founded in 1921, features members Augustana (S.D.), Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State-Mankato, Nebraska-Omaha, North Dakota, St. Cloud (Minn.) State and South Dakota.
