Twins 7, Rangers 2 (11): At Arlington, Texas, Jacque Jones scored the tying run after a pinch-hit double in the ninth inning and hit a tiebreaking two-run homer off Brian Shouse in the 11th as Minnesota beat Texas.
Blue Jays 2, Indians 1: At Toronto, Scott Downs combined with Jason Frasor, Scott Schoeneweis and Miguel Batista on a five-hitter to lead the Blue Jays over Cleveland.
Athletics 12, Orioles 3: At Baltimore, Bobby Crosby and Eric Chavez hit successive homers in a seven-run third inning, and Mark Ellis homered and drove in three runs as Oakland defeated the Orioles.
Devil Rays 6, Angels 3: At St. Petersburg, Fla., Jorge Cantu and Pete Laforest each hit two-run homers, and Jonny Gomes hit a two-run triple, leading Tampa Bay over West-leading Los Angeles.
Tigers 12, Red Sox 8: At Boston, Dmitri Young hit a grand slam and Brandon Inge added three hits as Detroit rallied from a six-run deficit to beat the Red Sox and send Boston to its first home loss in 15 games.

Cardinals 6, Nationals 0: At Washington, Jason Marquis pitched a two-hitter for his first career shutout, ending a seven-start losing streak, and David Eckstein had three RBIs as St. Louis beat the Nationals.
Marlins 2, Cubs 1: At Chicago, Dontrelle Willis beat Greg Maddux to tie for the major league lead with his 18th win and drove in the tiebreaking run when he was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in Florida’s win over the Cubs.
Giants 2, Mets 1: At San Francisco, Giants right-hander Jason Schmidt allowed one run and three hits in seven innings to win his third straight decision, outpitching Tom Glavine and ending New York’s five-game winning streak.
Diamondbacks 2, Phillies 0: At Phoenix, Alex Cintron hit a two-run, pinch-hit homer and Brandon Webb allowed three hits in seven innings to help Arizona stop a season-high six-game losing streak with a win over Philadelphia.
Braves 8, Brewers 4: At Milwaukee, John Smoltz allowed three hits in seven strong innings for his first win this month, and Chipper Jones and Jeff Francoeur each had three hits, leading Atlanta over Milwaukee.
Reds 4, Pirates 2 (10): At Pittsburgh, Jose Mesa hit Edwin Encarnacion with a pitch to force in the go-ahead run, and Cincinnati rallied to beat the Pirates in 10 innings.
Rockies 4, Padres 2: At San Diego, Todd Helton hit his third career grand slam and Colorado beat the Padres for its fourth consecutive victory.
Dodgers 8, Astros 3: At Los Angeles, Jeff Kent became the first player to hit 300 home runs as a second baseman, Jose Cruz Jr. had three RBIs, and the Dodgers scored five runs in the first inning against Houston All-Star right-hander Roy Oswalt on their way to the victory.
