Allen, Lewis power Sonics

Ray Allen scored 32 points and Rashard Lewis had 27 points and 10 rebounds to help the Seattle SuperSonics break a three-game losing streak with a 104-94 win over the visiting Charlotte Bobcats on Wednesday night.
Lewis was strong in the first half, scoring 18 points, and then turned it over to Allen, who had 20 in the second half.
Statistically the worst defensive team in the league – Seattle was allowing 105.4 points per game – the SuperSonics spent the last two practices focusing on defense. It showed, as Seattle held the Bobcats to 44 percent shooting and forced 19 turnovers. Teams had been shooting 48.6 percent against Seattle.
Luke Ridnour had 14 points and 12 assists for Seattle, which totaled 28 assists on 40 field goals and was extremely efficient with the ball. Charlotte led the league by forcing 20.1 turnovers per game, but the Sonics had just 11, leading to only 11 points for the Bobcats.
Cavaliers 112, Clippers 105 (OT): At Cleveland, Donyell Marshall made a key three-point play in regulation, then hit consecutive 3-pointers in overtime to help Cleveland beat Los Angeles.
Hornets 102, Nuggets 95: At Denver, Desmond Mason scored 21 of his season-best 26 points after halftime in New Orleans’ win over Denver, which was without star forward Carmelo Anthony (sprained ankle) and coach George Karl.
Karl was suspended two games without pay for publicly criticizing officials after the Nuggets’ loss to New Jersey on Monday night. His suspension began against New Orleans and he’ll miss the team’s trip to Phoenix on Friday night.
Suns 109, Pacers 91: At Phoenix, Steve Nash scored a season-high 31 points, including a career-high seven 3-pointers, and Phoenix beat Indiana for its fourth straight victory.
Celtics 110, 76ers 103: At Boston, Paul Pierce scored 32 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lift Boston over Philadelphia.
Knicks 109, Bulls 101: At New York, Jamal Crawford scored a season-high 28 points, and New York used a huge advantage at the free-throw line and some strong fourth-quarter defense to beat Chicago.
Pistons 93, Nets 83: At East Rutherford, N.J., Richard Hamilton scored 30 points and Detroit tied a team season high with 10 3-pointers in a win over New Jersey.
Wizards 96, Trail Blazers 89: At Washington, Gilbert Arenas had 28 points and five assists, leading Washington over Portland.
Heat 96, Hawks 74: At Atlanta, Jason Williams scored 21 points to help Miami beat Atlanta for its first road victory of the season.
Grizzlies 92, Raptors 66: At Toronto, Damon Stoudamire scored 19 points and Eddie Jones had 18 to lead Memphis to a rout of Toronto.
Warriors 113, Kings 106: At Oakland, Calif., Jason Richardson scored a season-high 33 points and Baron Davis added 25 and 16 assists to help Golden State cap its best month in more than 13 years with a victory over Sacramento.
Patterson remains on inactive list
Portland forward Ruben Patterson remained on the inactive list after complaining about his minutes.
Patterson was suspended for two games and placed on the team’s inactive list for cursing at coach Nate McMillan during a game against the New York Knicks.
Patterson was scheduled to meet with McMillan and Blazers general manager John Nash later this week to discuss the situation, according to a report in the Oregonian.
