CdA Symphony perfoming ‘Christmas Showcase’ at NIC
The Coeur d’Alene Symphony performs its “Christmas Showcase” concert on Saturday at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday at 2 p.m. in North Idaho College’s Schuler Auditorium.
Baritone Max Mendez will be featured in Vaughan Williams’ “Fantasia on Christmas Carols.” The Northwest Sacred Music Chorale will join the orchestra in selections from Handel’s “Messiah,” the contemporary piece “A Musicological Journey Through the Twelve Days of Christmas” and a selection of favorite holiday tunes.
The program also includes Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4.

Candlelight Christmas at Gonzaga
The Gonzaga University Choir, joined by the Spokane Symphony Brass Quintet, will present its 119th annual Christmas Candlelight Concert on Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. at St. Aloysius Church on the GU campus.
The program will feature a narration of the Christmas story, highlighted by Renaissance-era choral pieces as well as familiar tunes and carols from England and the American Southwest.
Advance tickets are $12 for adults, $10 for students and seniors, through TicketsWest. All tickets at the door will be $15.
Vivaldi at St. John’s
The Spokane Youth Orchestra and Spokane Area Children’s Chorus will give a free community holiday concert, “The Glory of Vivaldi,” on Sunday at 4 and 7 p.m. at St. John’s Cathedral, 12th Avenue and Grand Boulevard.
The program, written by Tamara Schupman, former Children’s Chorus executive director, celebrates the life of Italian composer Antonio Vivaldi.
Spokane British Brass Band
The Spokane British Brass Band’s “Winter Wonderland in Brass” concert will be Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. in the Spokane Falls Community College Music Building Auditorium.
The program features cornet soloist Jim Phillips in “What Child is This?” and euphonium soloist Leon Vostrez in “Ding Dong Merrily On High,” among other holiday-themed pieces.
Tickets are $10 for adults, through TicketsWest and at the door. Children and students are admitted free.
