The basketball non-league season is in full swing with only Colfax’s boys having not played a game (they open the season Friday against Tekoa-Oakesdale). Two stars stuck out last week. On the boys’ side, a short-handed Kettle Falls got a combined 51 points from Brandon Holibaugh and beat Selkirk 73-60 and Republic 68-58. For the girls, Jessie DePell, an All-NEA first-team volleyball selection, scored 31 points in a 78-68 win over 2A Lakeside (Nine Mile Falls).
