Ronde Barber became the first cornerback in NFL history with at least 20 sacks and 20 interceptions when he got one of each in Tampa Bay’s win over Carolina on Sunday in Charlotte, N.C.

Barber set the mark with 4:25 to play when he sacked Jake Delhomme for a 13-yard loss. It was the 20th sack of his career, most among all NFL cornerbacks. Ray Crockett is second on the list with 15 1/2 sacks.

“He’s a legend now,” Tampa Bay coach Jon Gruden said. “I just hope he gets the national credit, the notoriety that a player of this magnitude deserves – 20 sacks and 20 picks, it’s never been done before in the history of football.”

Faulk reaches milestone

St. Louis Rams running back Marshall Faulk became the NFL’s career leader in receiving yards by a running back.

Faulk had four catches for 32 yards in the Rams’ 27-13 loss to the Minnesota Vikings in Minneapolis, moving him past Larry Centers. He has 6,801 yards receiving in his 12-year career, 4 yards more than Centers.

Faulk broke the record on the Rams’ final drive when he caught a 7-yard pass from rookie quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick.

Martin’s streaks end

New York Jets running back Curtis Martin will undergo season-ending surgery on his right knee after missing Sunday’s game against Oakland, breaking a streak of 119 regular-season starts.

Martin initially hurt his knee against Miami in Week 2. The reigning NFL rushing champion has missed five regular-season games during his 11-year career. He last missed a game on Oct. 11, 1998, when he sat out against St. Louis with a thigh injury.

Including playoff games, the 32-year-old Martin had started 126 straight. Martin failed in his quest to become the first player in NFL history to start a career with 11 straight 1,000 yard seasons. He finished with 735 yards.

Favre eclipses Marino’s mark

Brett Favre broke Dan Marino’s record for seasons with 3,000 yards passing, going over the mark against Detroit in Green Bay, Wis.

The Packers star’s 11-yard pass to Robert Ferguson during the first quarter put him over 3,000 yards for a 14th season. Dan Marino and Favre held the record of 13.

On third-and-2 at the Packers 44, Favre looked left and found Ferguson on a slant for a first down and the mark.

Favre, playing in his 100th game at Lambeau Field, had already thrown for more than 3,000 yards in 13 consecutive seasons, an NFL record, before the start of 2005.

Peyton Manning is third on the list with eight consecutive 3,000-yard seasons, including this year.

Bengals lose Perry to injury

Running back Chris Perry sprained his left ankle on a first-quarter run and was on crutches following the Bengals’ 23-20 victory over the visiting Cleveland Browns.

Coach Marvin Lewis said the first tests on the ankle found no major injury. The club had no idea how long he might be sidelined.
