Levenseller lifts Pullman to win

J.T. Levenseller hit a fade-away jump shot from 12 feet at the buzzer to give Pullman’s boys basketball team a 40-38 non-league win over visiting Moscow on Wednesday.

Levenseller hit six shots from the field and three more from the line to score a game-high 15 points for the Greyhounds (3-1). Shane Miller put in 11 for the Bears (3-2).

In other non-league games, Cory Kreighbaum scored 12 points and Brett Bemis 10 to lead Lake City (4-5) to a 50-34 win over visiting East Valley (3-4). The Timberwolves’ Brad Bemis chipped in with nine and held Knights leading scorer Dylan Sattin to 15. … Travis Zimmerman led all scorers with 17 points and Derek MacArthur tossed in 11 as Selkirk defeated Newport 63-53 at Ione. The Rangers (7-2), who were tied with the Grizzlies (1-5) at the half, also received 11 points from Clint March and a nine-point, 10-rebound night from Miki Cromwell. … Scotty Livengood scored a career-high 30 points on 13-of-17 shooting from the field in Rogers’ (4-3) 65-44 win over visiting Colville (1-5).

Kevin McNeil hit six 3-pointers on his way to a 21-point night to help Deer Park (3-1) advance to the championship game of the Northwest Christian tournament in a 70-56 rout of Wellpinit (4-3) at Colbert. The Stags’ Richie Mullenberg recorded a double-double with 16 and 10 boards, and Nathan Shea contributed 18 points. … NWC (5-1) will meet Deer Park for first place after a 70-34 stomping of Oroville. The Crusaders’ Karl Richardson scored a game-high 13 points and Chase Ramey dropped in 12.

Travis Teaford scored 21 points and Eric Everett 17 to push Reardan (4-1, 4-1) past visiting Liberty (3-2, 4-2) 57-52 in Bi-County League play.

Girls basketball

Riki Moreland finished with 14 points, eight rebounds, three assists and three steals to lead Lake City to a 71-53 non-league win over visiting East Valley (4-3). Katy Baker (14), Emma Hawn (13) and Richelle Fenenbock (13) also scored in double digits for the Timberwolves (5-6).

Laura Gibson scored a season-high 27 points and added a team-high five assists in Deer Park’s 69-46 win over Wellpinit (5-2) in an opening-round game of the Northwest Christian tournament at Colbert. Rachel McNeil chipped in with 13 points and eight rebounds for the Stags (4-1), and Megan Roberts added 11. … Host NWC played Oroville in the other tournament opener. No details were reported.

Calynne Oyolokor scored 17 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to boost Cheney to a 53-37 win over North Central (2-5) in the championship game of the Blackhawk Invitational at Cheney. Heather Burke led the Blackhawks (4-3) with 23 points. … D’Erica Jones led all scorers with 18 points and grabbed 10 boards to help Rogers earn third place in the Blackhawk Invitational via a 40-30 win over Colville (0-6). Denisha Whitehead chipped in with 12 points and Mary Fairbanks had seven blocked shots for the Pirates (2-5).

Nikki Nelson scored 20 points and Kelli Valentine added 13, as Mead (4-2) defeated the Australian Dunkeroos in a 60-41 exhibition win at the Roosevelt Holiday Shootout in Seattle.

Shawn Hennessey scored 14 points and Jessica Mangis tossed in another 13 to lead Liberty in a 58-44 Bi-County League win over host Reardan (3-2, 3-3). Laura Davis scored 10 second-half points for the Lancers (6-0, 4-0) and Caitlin Jeske collected 13 rebounds.

“Cara Broderick hit back-to-back 3-pointers in the fourth quarter to spark a fourth-quarter rally as Colton edged LaCrosse-Washtucna 42-41 in the championship game of the Troy Tournament on Tuesday night at Troy. Colton (3-2) came into the final quarter down 31-24 but outscored the Wildcats (3-3) 18-10 for its first win over L-W since 1996. After Rochelle Druffel hit two free throws to give Colton a 41-29 lead with 15 seconds remaining, Kayla Moehrle added another to seal the win.
