Benefit event – Christian Youth Theater is hosting a benefit to raise money to help replace costumes and sets lost in a recent fire, 6 p.m., Wednesday at The Met downtown. New Year’s Eve dance – The Country Jammers will perform beginning at 8 p.m. next Saturday at the Tri-Community Grange, one block north of Trent on Starr Road. No admission charge, but people can bring snacks to share; 926-3803.
German American Society – The group will host a New Year’s Eve party beginning at 6 p.m. next Saturday at Deutsches Haus, 25 W. Third. The evening includes dinner, music and dancing for those age 21 and over. The cost is $15. Reservations are required; 325-1113.
Spokane City Forum – The monthly luncheon features Spokesman-Review editor Steven Smith speaking on “A Question of Values: Why Healthy Communities Requires a Healthy Press,” 11:45 a.m. Jan. 18 at First Presbyterian Church, 318 S. Women’s Association Luncheon – The Spokane College Women’s association hosts Judge Shannen Rosmiller speaking on “Counter-Intelligence on the Internet,” 11 a.m. Jan. 25 at the Red Lion River Inn, 700 N. Division. Reservations required by Jan. 21. Lunch is $13; 465-0362.
