Auditions planned for ‘Cat,’ ‘Amen’
The Spokane Civic Theatre, 1020 N. Howard St., is holding auditions for the Tennessee Williams classic “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” on Jan. 8 at 3 p.m. and Jan. 9 at 7 p.m. Multiple roles are available for both men and women age 12 and up for performances that will run from Feb. 24 through March 11.
Auditioners should prepare a monologue no longer than one minute long and will be expected to read cold from the script.
The Civic and the Onyx Theatre Troupe also will hold auditions Jan. 10 at 7 p.m. for their reading stage production of “The Amen Corner” by James Baldwin.
Seven African American men ages 20 and older and 10 African American women ages 20 and older are needed for the one-time performance Feb. 12. Auditioners should expect to read cold from the script during the audition in the Civic lobby.

North Idaho auditions
“The Lake City Playhouse is holding auditions for “Picnic” by William Inge on Jan. 3 and 4 at 6:30 p.m. at the Harding Family Center, 411 N. 15th St., Coeur d’Alene.
Men ages 15 to 20, mid-20s and 35 to 50 and women ages 15 to 25 and 40 to 60 are needed for performances that will run March 17 through April 1. Auditioners will be expected to read cold from the script.

“The Pend Oreille Players are holding auditions for the Frank Loesser musical “How to Succeed in Business without Really Trying” on Jan. 2 and 3 from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at Stratton Elementary School in Newport, Wash.
Auditions will include a short song and cold readings from the script. Anyone younger than high school age must get permission from the director to audition.

The University of Idaho’s Prichard Art Gallery has received a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts. The money will be used to help present the exhibition “William Kentridge, Drawings & Animations.”
