EWU’s Timeus honored for top time

Eastern Washington University sophomore John Timeus of Kent, Wash., earned Big Sky Conference indoor track and field athlete of the week honors after setting a school record in the 3,000-meter run.

Timeus set the record last Friday at the University of Washington Invitational, where he ran a time of 8 minutes, 21.28 seconds.

College football

University of Idaho football coach Nick Holt will talk with boosters about 2005 recruits during local events this week.

The first is tonight at 6:30 at University Inn Best Western in Moscow. On Thursday, he’ll attend an 11:30 a.m. luncheon at the Coeur d’Alene Resort.

Junior hockey

Beaver Valley scored two goals in each period to post a 6-1 win over the visiting Spokane Braves in Kootenay International Junior Hockey League play on Tuesday night.

Scott Rensmon had the lone goal for Spokane (20-21-2-2), which got 11 saves from Ryan Skier. Beaver Valley is 30-10-2-2.
