Facilities concept meeting tonight

The Central Valley School District will meet with community members and parents from the Bowdish Middle School neighborhood tonight to present the district’s proposed facilities concept.

The community meeting will begin at 7 p.m. at the school, 2109 S. Skipworth Road.

District officials are presenting a series of meetings to gather community input on the plan.

The concept – based on the findings of a committee charged last year with investigating growth in the 80 square mile district – calls for building two new schools, remodeling others, and transitioning some buildings for other uses over the next six to eight years.

The school board voted in November to take the plan to the community before deciding on a course of action.

Over the past few months the district has been meeting with the communities surrounding the 22 schools in the district to offer more information to community members and parents about the proposed concept.

A new nine-member community-based committee was convened in January to sort through the suggestions and comments regarding the proposed facilities concept.

A recommendation will be made to the board in March, based on the input.
