Bakra Bata at CenterStage
Bakra Bata Steel Band brings the sounds of the Caribbean to CenterStage on Sunday as part of the World Music Concert Series.
Since forming in 1984, the Seattle-based group has performed throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico and Brazil.
Its dance-oriented sound features the steel drum played in combination with a variety of other percussion instruments to create an original style reflecting the samba and reggae rhythms of northeastern Brazil, Trinidad, Jamaica and Haiti.
Dinner service featuring a sampling of Caribbean dishes starts Sunday at 5:30 p.m. at CenterStage, 1017 W. First Ave., followed by music at 7.
Tickets are $43 for food and show, $22 for show only with dessert and beverage ($15 for students with ID), available by calling 747-8243.
