A group of young girls with the Salvation Army Spokane Corps has turned to eBay to help give the homeless – and the charitable – a place to lay their heads.

Amy Rogers, Katya Clevett, Sophia Hoogstad, Angie Mosher, Dawn Elder and Nicole Steffenhagen – all between the ages of 6 and 13 – sewed pillowcase sets that are currently being auctioned on the Internet site. The proceeds from the project, headed by Jerriann Armstrong of the social services programs, will benefit The Salvation Army S.A.F.E. Center homeless shelter and transitional housing program. The program gives lower-income families a chance to get back on their feet while living in a subsidized building on Spokane’s northeast side for up to two years.

To bid on the pillowcase sets, go to www.eBay.com and type in “handmade pillowcase set.” The five-day auction ends Friday night.
