Grill owner does remodeling himself

It took three months of labor, but Bin Nguyen finally opened the Sun Mongolian Grill and Lounge three weeks ago.

He leased the former Spaghetti Station at 11204 E. Sprague Ave. and spent those three months doing all the remodeling himself.

“I did the tabletops, too,” he said.

Nguyen previously worked as a cook at Moons Mongolian Grill for seven years. “I’ve been thinking I’ve been cooking well, and I want to try and open my own business,” he said.

The restaurant follows the model of other Mongolian restaurants in the area. Diners can either order an entrée off the menu or visit the buffet. They then select whatever ingredients they want and hand them over to a cook to be grilled up right in front of them.

The buffet is $5.95 for lunch and $9.95 for dinner. The restaurant also has seafood items on the dinner menu.

Business has been going well, and the restaurant is already attracting regulars, Nguyen said. There are four employees, including Nguyen and his wife.

Restaurant hours are from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m.
