Not-so-groovy coverage

The Spokesman-Review

We, the students of North Central High School, are mortally affronted at the lack of print media coverage regarding the Groovy Shoes spirit competition (between North Central and Shadle Park).

Groovy Shoes is no mere basketball game. Like the Rubber Chicken, Groovy Shoes focuses on community service and school spirit. Our food and necessities drive donated more than 20,000 items to local charities and Shadle provided full Thanksgiving and Christmas dinners to 30 families.

This is the one event that continually unites our student bodies. It is a student-driven activity, run by the students for the students. This is the first year your newspaper has not published at least one picture and article about the spirit competition.

Too often we hear negative stories about teenagers. This event provides your newspaper a chance to portray the future leaders of Spokane at their best. We hope in the future you won’t deny the students their chance to remember this positive event.
