If you’re OK with heights and are looking for a new career, you might want to consider becoming a lineman.

Avista and Spokane Community College train linemen — the folks who climb utility poles — at the Jack Stewart Lineman School. After four months, graduates are ready for entry-level lineman work for a variety of utilities. Once they attain journeyman status, linemen can earn about $60,000 a year.
