Lewiston impresses
Mon., Feb. 21, 2005
LEWISTON – Lewiston has one of the best-developed hazardous materials response organizations in the state, according to the director of the Idaho Bureau of Homeland Security.
William Bishop said part of the reason is the chemicals used at Potlatch Corp.’s pulp and paper mill.
Within 15 minutes of a reported chemical release, the company will make a conference call to the state Department of Environmental Quality, the state hazmat team, Homeland Security and the North Central District Public Health Department.
