Just think of Beyonce as Oscar’s not-unsung hero

Beyonce may not be nominated for any Academy Awards, but she’ll be one of the main attractions at Sunday’s Oscars ceremony.
During the awards telecast, the singer will perform three of the five tunes nominated for best original song.
She and Josh Groban will sing “Believe,” from “The Polar Express.” Groban performed it on the movie’s soundtrack.
Beyonce will step in for Minnie Driver on “Learn to Be Lonely,” from “The Phantom of the Opera.” Driver performed the song on the film’s soundtrack.
Accompanied by the American Boychoir, Beyonce also will sing “Look to Your Path (Vois Sur Ton Chemin)” from “The Chorus (Les Choristes).”
Counting Crows will do “Accidentally in Love” from “Shrek 2,” while Carlos Santana and Enrique Iglesias will perform “Al Otro Lado del Rio” from “The Motorcycle Diaries.”
More good vibes for Hamp
A timely news note, with the annual Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival starting today at the University of Idaho: an engraved vibraphone that belonged to the late Hampton had the $50,000 top price over the weekend at an auction of memorabilia to raise money for jazz charities.
That was nearly doubled the $26,000 fetched by Dizzy Gillespie‘s custom-made Martin trumpet. Handwritten letters by sax great John Coltrane sold for $16,000 and $14,000.
Every day is freaky for Michael
Actress Lindsay Lohan‘s troubled father was arrested Saturday for DUI after he crashed his car into a utility pole on Long Island.
Michael Lohan, who managed to escape the vehicle before it exploded into a ball of flames, was also booked for driving without a license.
It is the latest in a series of scrapes with the law for the “Mean Girls” and “Freaky Friday” star’s dad. In December, he pleaded guilty to several charges, including assaulting a brother-in-law at a family party, and was ordered into drug and alcohol treatment and therapy. He also was arrested in June for allegedly skipping out on a $3,800 bill for several suites at a hotel.
Guess evil is in her makeup
Actress/Estee Lauder model Elizabeth Hurley is being touted for a part in the next “Harry Potter” film, as evil Bellatrix Lestrange.
“(Producers) have always wanted someone beautiful and mystical to play Bellatrix,” said a source, “and they reckon Liz can pull it off.”
Bellatrix is Sirius Black’s cousin and a Death Eater, loyal to the evil Lord Voldemort, in the fifth Potter book, “Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.”
Still looking for Prince Charming
Yet another desperate housewife is headed to Wisteria Lane: Lesley Ann Warren will appear in an upcoming episode of “Desperate Housewives” as Sophie Bremmer, the high-maintenance mom of Teri Hatcher‘s character, Susan Mayer.
Warren, whose long career in TV and movies began with “Cinderella” in 1965, will visit her befuddled daughter seeking love advice. She has signed up for only one episode, but may return.
