Acrobatic dance show coming to Panida

The Spokesman-Review

Galumpha, a three-man theatrical, acrobatic dance show, comes to Sandpoint’s Panida Theater for a performance Friday.

In 14 brief and wide-ranging pieces, members of the troupe weave themselves into what they call “human architecture” – everything from pyramids to pinwheels, insects to giants. Many of the moves are accompanied by music, from the likes of Rachmaninov and Mahler to the Czech band Jablkon.

The group, based at Binghamton University in New York, was formed in 2002. It has appeared on television (including David Letterman’s “Late Show”) and toured extensively, winning the Critics’ Choice award at Scotland’s Edinburgh Festival in 1996.

Friday’s show starts at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, $8 for students 18 and under, available in advance in Sandpoint at Pack River Potions, Monarch Mountain Coffee, Eve’s Leaves and the Panida, or by calling (208) 255-7801 or online at www.sandpointonline.com.
