Big Sky Tournament

Friday’s/Saturday’s games

No. 6 Eastern Washington or Northern Arizona at No. 3 Montana, TBA

No. 5 Weber State at No. 4 Sacramento State, 7:05 p.m.

Around the conference

In order for Eastern Washington to reach the conference tournament, Montana must defeat Northern Arizona in tonight’s game at Flagstaff, Ariz. A Montana victory would leave NAU in seventh place, one game behind EWU and give the Eagles the last of the six tournament berths. If NAU were to win tonight, the Lumberjacks would tie EWU for sixth place and take the final tournament berth. The determining tiebreaker would be the team’s record against the conference in descending order of finish. EWU was swept by the top three teams and NAU would advance by virtue of the win over Montana.

END OF REGULAR SEASON

Around the conference

“You would have to say this is a bigger win” than any the school has had in his three seasons as head coach - even bigger, Washington coach Lorenzo Romar said after Saturday’s victory over Arizona. “I just wish it was our last conference game and we didn’t have two more to go and have to start all over and climb the mountain,” Romar said, referring to season-ending games next week at California and Stanford. UW will likely have to win both to get at least a share of the Pac-10 title with the Wildcats.
