Fishing
Jan 15: Register by Jan. 10 for “Bull Trout on the Run – A Native under Siege.” Tom Whalen from the Idaho Fish and Game Department life history of the bull trout in the Lake Pend Oreille Basin and explore the social and natural impacts that affect the fish from 10 a.m. to noon at Manito Gardens. Tennis
Jan. 24-30: Register by Jan. 17 for the Spokane Senior Classic at the Spokane Athletic Club at Fourth Ave. Entrants must live within a 50-mile radius of Spokane. Men must be 35 years or older and women 30 years or older during 2005. Various events and levels available. Cost is $17 for singles events and $13 a person for doubles events. Skiing/Snowboarding
Jan. 8: Learn to cross-country ski at Priest Lake State Park from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. with classroom presentation in the morning. Participants under age 16 must me accompanied by parent or guardian. Fees: $4 motor vehicle entry fee; events are free. Info: 208-443-2200.
Softball
Sign up: Three-session hitting clinic for ages 12 to 18 hosted by NIC softball coaching staff and players from 9:30 a.m. to noon Jan. 15, 22 and 29 at the NIC hitting facility. Cost is $50 for all three sessions. Info: (208) 769-7879.
