Joanne Brown

Pullman

Funeral for Joanne R. Brown, 71, will be Friday at 10 a.m. at the Presbyterian Church of Pullman. Kramer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Brown died Saturday.

She was born in Pullman and attended school in Johnson, Wash., until the third grade. She completed her schooling in Pullman, graduating in 1952.

She married Roy Brown in 1955 in Pullman, and the couple settled west of Pullman.

Mrs. Brown was a homemaker most of her life and also cooked for a few fraternity and sorority houses for several years.

She was involved with the Pullman Rural Fire District 12 and catered meals to the fire crews when needed for 40 years. She also was a substitute rural mail carrier for several years.

She was a past member of the Women of the Moose and the Ewartsville Grange. She was a Pullman High School sports booster and an avid Cougar fan.

Survivors include her husband; four sons, Sam and Andy Brown, both of Pullman, Kenny Brown of Tacoma and Guy Brown of Palouse, Wash.; a brother, Donald Clarke of Pullman; and three grandchildren.

Madolyn (McKillop) Sheely

Eugene, Ore.

Funeral for Madolyn (McKillop) Sheely, 91, will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Fairmount Memorial Park in Spokane. Poole-Larsen Chapel of Eugene is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Sheely died Saturday.

Born in Salem, Ore., she attended Salem public schools and graduated from Salem High School. She also attended business college in Salem.

She married Charles Bier in 1933. He preceded her in death.

Mrs. Sheely worked as a bank teller at Ladd and Bush Bank in Salem for many years and later was head bookkeeper at the Oregon Statesman newspaper in Salem.

She married Aubrey Sheely in 1950, and the couple moved to Spokane.

Mrs. Sheely enjoyed crafts, flowers, cooking and entertaining. She was a member of the Congregational Church, Daughters of the Nile, Beta Sigma Phi, the Sky View Garden Club and the Knife and Fork Club of Spokane.

She moved to Eugene, Ore., in November.

She was preceded in death by her second husband.

Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Lowe of Eugene; two stepdaughters, Rozanne Winters and Patricia Conley, and a stepson, Patrick Sheely, all of Spokane; a sister, Maxine DeArmond of Salem; 11 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.

Jeannette (Watkins) Lindley

Spokane

No service will be held for Jeannette Louise (Watkins) Lindley, 86, at her request. Heritage Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Mrs. Lindley, who was born in Omak, Wash., died Dec. 30.

She grew up in a house above the Okanogan River and attended grade school in Twisp, Wash. After three years the family returned to Omak, where she graduated from high school in 1937.

In 1941 she graduated as a registered nurse from St. Luke’s School of Nursing.

She married David Lindley in 1943 and worked briefly at Oceanside (Calif.) Hospital. After moving to Spokane she worked at St. Luke’s and Sacred Heart hospitals, primarily as head/charge nurse. Later, she worked at Regency North Convalescent until her retirement.

Mrs. Lindley enjoyed reading.

She was preceded in death by her husband.

Survivors include two sons, William and Charles Lindley; two daughters, Julia Corbin and Lynnette Campbell; 12 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lilac Blind Foundation or Hospice of Spokane.

Francis Tyler

Spokane

Private service will be held for Francis “Frank” Tyler, 75. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is handling arrangements.

Mr. Tyler, who was born in Marine City, Mich., died Dec. 26. He was a resident of the Spokane area for 49 years.

He was a salesman in retail construction and a member of St. Thomas More Roman Catholic Church.

Survivors his wife of 34 years, Nancy; a son, David Tyler of Monterey, Calif.; and three grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Catholic Charities.

Thomas Orick

Spokane

Memorial service for Thomas Orick, 63, will be Friday at 2 p.m. at Heritage Funeral Home.

Mr. Orick, who died Saturday, was born in Germantown, Md.

He moved to Spokane in 1993 and worked as an assistant manager for Zip Trip Corp. until his retirement in 2004.

Survivors include his companion, Helen Putman; a brother, Glen Orick of Oak Grove, Calif.; and a sister, Peggy Green of Atwater, Calif.

Warren Olson

Arlington, Wash.

Funeral for Warren Richard Olson, 60, was Jan. 4 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Arlington.

Mr. Olson, who was born in Tacoma, died Dec. 31. He was a former longtime area resident.

He graduated from Olympia High School in 1962, and received an associate’s degree in applied arts from Centralia College in 1964. He began working for Sears Roebuck and Co. in 1964 in Spokane, retiring in 1993.

He did some home construction before purchasing a Sears Dealer Store in Arlington in 1996.

Mr. Olson enjoyed boating, fishing and hunting.

Survivors include his wife, Tammy; four children, Tanner and Taylor, both at home, Warren of Spokane and Byron of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; two stepdaughters, Kimberley Linebarger of San Diego and Holly Thompson of Deer Park; a sister, Lorae Fenton of Ocean Shores, Wash.; a brother, Ernest Olson of Mountain View, Calif.; two stepbrothers, John Preston and Michael Olson, both of Olympia; and 12 grandchildren.

Donald ‘Don’ Vanderpool

Kellogg

Graveside service for Donald Lawrence “Don” Vanderpool, 81, will be today at 2 p.m. at Coeur d’Alene Memorial Gardens. Shoshone Funeral Service in Kellogg is in charge of arrangements.

Mr. Vanderpool, who was born in Troy, Idaho, died Saturday.

He served with the Army during World War II and then lived in Libby, Mont., before settling in the Silver Valley in 1945.

Mr. Vanderpool worked as a welder at the Bunker Hill Zinc Plant for many years.

He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and a member of the Military Order of the Cooties and the Bunker Hill 20-Year Club.

He enjoyed hunting, traveling and fishing.

Survivors include two sisters, Dorothy Crawford of Kingston, Idaho, and Verelene Burns of Chewelah, Wash.; and a brother, Orville Vanderpool of Oak Harbor, Wash.

Margaret Hutchisson

Spokane

Visitation for Margaret Hutchisson, 86, will be today from noon to 5 p.m. at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home. Funeral will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Mrs. Hutchisson, who was born in Fort Wayne, Ind., died Monday.

She was a resident of Spokane for 33 years.

Mrs. Hutchisson was employed at Bell Telephone Co. in California and retired after more than 20 years.

She enjoyed attending church, bingo and yardwork.

Her husband of 57 years, Gilbert, died in 1995.

Survivors include a daughter, Mary Lou Finney of Dallas; two sons, David and Dennis Hutchisson, both of Spokane; a brother, Bob Buskirk; four sisters, Flo Galbreath, Nancy Ramey, Kay Hendriksen and Evelyn Buskirk; 17 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.

David Huggar

Spokane

No service will be held for David C. Huggar, 77. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Mr. Huggar, a lifelong resident of Spokane, died Dec. 25.

He was a forklift operator for a construction supply company.

He loved the arts, particularly watercolor painting, and nature.

Survivors include three children, Carl Huggar, Karen Moore and Kerry Rose, all of Spokane; a sister, Jean Anderson of Liberty Lake; seven grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to Humane Society of Spokane.

Mildred Langstrom

Spokane

No service will be held for Mildred Langstrom, 98. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Langstrom, a resident of Spokane since 1922, died Jan. 2. She was born in St. Paul, Minn.

She married Fred Langstrom in 1928 and became a homemaker. Her husband died in 1993.

Survivors include a son, Bob Langstrom of California; two grandsons and seven great-grandchildren.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Rita Krebsbach

Spokane

No service will be held for Rita Krebsbach, 85. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Krebsbach, who died Saturday, was born in Estonia. She was a resident Spokane for more than 25 years and a member of the Hobnailers hiking club.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Constantine Krebsbach.

Survivors include four children, Angelika Tann of Spokane, Edith Tower and Monica Krebsbach, both of San Diego, and Andrew Krebsbach of San Mateo, Calif.; four granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of Spokane.

Albert Fuller Jr.

Spokane

No service will be held for Albert L. “A.J.” Fuller, 41. Thornhill Valley Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Mr. Fuller, who was born in Sonora, Calif., died Dec. 17.

He grew up in Idaho and Washington and graduated from high school in Worley, Idaho. While there he enjoyed sports and shop.

Mr. Fuller worked part time at a seed plant after school. After graduation he joined the Navy. While in the Navy, he was involved in an accident.

He enjoyed working in his shop and yard, walking and spending time at the casino.

Survivors include his father, Albert Fuller Sr.; a brother, Cliff Fuller; and six stepbrothers, Mike, Edward and Steve Huber, and Chris, Scott and Jonathon Gage.

Beatrice Bonvallet

Spokane

Funeral Mass for Beatrice O. Bonvallet, 94, will be today at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Church. Interment will be at Spokane Memorial Gardens. Hennessey-Smith Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Bonvallet, who was born in St. Ann, Ill., died Sunday. She was a resident of Spokane for 35 years.

She was a secretary at an armament company and a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil.

Survivors include three sons, Dwayne Bonvallet of Ann Arbor, Mich., Wayne Bonvallet of Farmington Hills, Mich., and James Bonvallet of Spokane; 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Barbara Devine

Newport, Wash.

Memorial service for Barbara Louise Devine, 61, was Monday at Sherman-Knapp Funeral Home.

Mrs. Devine, who was born in Tulsa, Okla., died last Wednesday.

After graduating from Central High School in Phoenix, she attended Arizona State University for four years.

Mrs. Devine worked as an accountant for American Greyhound Racing in Phoenix.

She moved to Newport 11 years ago.

She enjoyed spending time in her garden and doing crafts. She was a member of TOPS and the American Lutheran Church in Newport.

Survivors include her husband, Jim; two daughters, Jennifer Stim of California and Aimee Devine of Newport; a son, Brent Devine of California; a sister, Beverly Dalgleish of Arizona; and three grandchildren.

Margaret Carstens

Spokane

No service will be held for Margaret L. Carstens Hunt, 87. Hazen and Jaeger Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Hunt, who was born in Alberta, died Jan. 2.

She lived on a ranch north of Nespelem, Wash., until 1940, then moved into town. She moved to Spokane in 1961 and went to work for Eastern Washington State College. She retired from Spokane Community College after 14 and a half years.

She sold her home and moved to Royal Plaza Retirement Center, where she lived for many years.

Survivors include a son, Dave Hunt of Arden, Wash.; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Dorothy Lindsay

Spokane

Private burial will be held for Dorothy I. (Thomas) Lindsay, 84, at Riverside Memorial Park. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Mrs. Lindsay, who died Jan. 1, was born in Spokane.

She lived in Spokane Valley for more than 50 years, where she worked as an assistant baker in schools.

She enjoyed playing bridge with friends at the Spokane Bridge Center and her many cruises, and trips to Reno.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman.

Survivors include a daughter, Marla Johnson; and one grandson.
