Two Bayview marinas to see ownership changes
BAYVIEW, Idaho – Bayview, a picturesque resort town at the foot of Lake Pend Oreille, is home to hundreds of boats and about a half dozen marinas.
Two marinas are in the midst of ownership changes.
Hayden businessman Bob Holland recently bought the 80-slip Vista Bay Marina on the south side of town. He’s also purchasing the 150-slip Boileau’s Marina and Resort in the middle of Bayview. That sale is scheduled to close this week.
Together, the sales represent a transaction of nearly $4.5 million, according to Holland.
Holland doesn’t even own a powerboat. But he’s owned mobile home parks in Idaho, California and Arizona for 30 years, and the marinas are a natural extension of that business, he said.
“A marina is like a mobile home park on water,” Holland said Tuesday. “It’s not a foreign concept.”
Holland is seeking to extend the Vista Bay Marina by 100 boat slips, and to add 10 spaces for float homes. He’s preparing an application for the Idaho Department of Lands, which must approve the extensions
The new slips would be 30 to 50 feet long to accommodate the larger boats on the market, Holland said. He expects the 10 float spaces to attract existing float homes from other areas of Lake Pend Oreille. Existing float homes are grandfathered in under state law, but new float homes cannot be added to the lake.
Vista Bay Marina also includes a 30-unit mobile home park, and 10 RV spaces.
Boileau’s Marina and Resort includes a restaurant, condo buildings and an RV park.
