With Gonzaga still having to play Northern Colorado on Feb. 28, the West Coast Conference has already posted 75 wins against non-conference opponents, surpassing the record of 73 set during the 1984-85 season… . ESPN.com has named Saint Mary’s Paul Marigney its national Player of the Week after the 6-foot-3 senior guard scored 19 points against Brigham Young University, added 17 against Portland, and capped his big week with a season-high 30 in the Gaels’ 89-81 upset of 11th-ranked Gonzaga on Saturday night… . Weighing in recently on a possible future in the NBA, Pepperdine’s senior center Glen McGowan said: “We’ll see. I’m hoping an NBA team will like me. It’s not all about basketball. We have troops overseas fighting for our country, tsunamis across the world. Life is real. You can’t take nothing for granted.” … San Francisco’s WCC-opening 68-65 loss to Loyola Marymount last Friday came despite the return of starting point guard Andre Hazel, who had been sidelined for three weeks with a knee injury.
